AJ Gummers has simplified the specification of special needs showers and changing rooms in public places with the introduction of the Sirrus DocM Showering Pack- a simple one-box solution.
This one-box, specialist solution pack contains all sanitary items that a specifier needs to install a shower room that is compliant with Document ‘M’ of the Building Regulations 2000 and is additionally compliant to B.S.8300.
The rigorous DocM regulations can be a minefield for specifiers who need to source and install one showering facility for special needs users to every 10 showers. The Sirrus DocM Showering Pack has brought all the elements together for stress-free specification – ideal for hospitals, care homes, leisure centres, schools, hotels – indeed anywhere that the regulations could be enforced.
The Pack contains all sanitary items that are needed for a self-contained shower room including 3 grab rails available in both blue and white to contrast with the wall colour to which they are affixed. These sturdy grab rails adhere to DocM regs and provide excellent grip when wet to allow a wheelchair user or semi-ambulant person easy access in and out of the shower. These rails are supplemented with 2 drop-down rails that are affixed in front of and to the side of the shower seat for easier manoeuvrability.
The drop-down shower seat itself is wall-mounted and non-spring loaded and incorporates an integral support and backrest. Tested to withstand a load of up to 190kg(30 stone) its robust construction complies with all DocM regulations and critically offers comfort and stability for the user. Specially developed to conform to regulations for an extra long seat it is one of the few seats that conform to DocM regulations. Even the shower curtain, shower rings and shower shelf have all been rigorously constructed to meet stringent regulations.
The Sirrus shower valve itself is lever operated for ease of use and is tested to TMV3 standards required for optimum water safety and features sequential controls for temperature and flow for ease of use. The valve itself even has a low surface temperature shroud for additional safety and markings on the shower control are logical and clear. The main workings of the shower are completed with a flexible shower accessories kit comprising a hand shower, easily operated slider, diverter, rigid riser and fixed overhead vandal-resistant shower rose in chrome. This allows the user of the shower the flexibility to use a hand shower control or the overhead shower rose for an all-over deluge depending on their showering preference.
The self-contained shower room pack also contains a DocM compliant clothes hooks, and an emergency assistance pull cord with visual and audible alarm.
Sirrus also provides a second DocM approved pack for self-contained changing rooms. This pack contains 3 grab rails, 2 drop down rails, a drop down shower seat and a clothes hook.
All of the Sirrus DocM components have been meticulously developed to adhere to the dimensional and performance requirements of DocM and BS8300 ensuring that you can specify with confidence and peace of mind. The Sirrus DocM packs are approved by Lantac for compliance to Building Regulations.
